Dutch Silver Museum
A playful and contemporary museum for the whole family. That is the completely renovated Dutch Silver Museum in Schoonhoven. Around a long, festively laid table, cabinets with titles such as 'Yes, I want' and 'Heavenly desire' tell the story of silver in a surprising and associative way. Visitors are enticed to really look.
The 14 meter long dining table is not only an eye-catcher, but also a timeline. Visitors see how the design of silver has changed over the centuries. The place settings are multimedia presentations that explain the different styles. The surrounding cabinets each tell a different story, each in its own visual language. The sides of the cabinets are full of peep boxes, videos and games and funny observations.
The Dutch Silver Museum has won a prestigious prize for this presentation: the FX Award 2014 in the category Museum or Exhibition Space.
