Introduction room Airborne Museum

Villa Hartenstein, the historic building that houses the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek, plays the leading role in the new design of the museum. This region was the place where rich people built country estates, after the Second World War the area was destroyed. According to director Sarah Heijse, the history of the Hartenstein estate is illustrative of what war can do. Hartenstein is the only publicly accessible estate left.

Hartenstein's story is the story of the consequences of war. During the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, Hotel Hartenstein took center stage as the headquarters of the British airborne troops led by Major General Roy E. Urquhart.

The permanent exhibition of the Airborne Museum 'Hartenstein' tells what happened day by day during the Battle of Arnhem. From the airborne landings on the heath to the evacuation across the Rhine. After an introductory film, you will see and hear the complete story by following the route.

In addition to building the interior, Kloosterboer also supplied the AV hardware for the introduction room.
