The Story of Gardening
In the southwest of the United Kingdom, a 300-acre estate has been transformed into a beautifully landscaped country estate with a hotel, restaurants, cottages and gardens. Visitors are guided through different phases in the history of gardening. From a Victorian scented garden and greenhouse, a real cottage garden, to modern water gardens and impressive flower gardens. The entire site is a look into the past, mixed with contemporary design. Everything laid out in detail.
A 1000 m2 museum has been built integrated into the landscape. Kloosterboer has created an interactive exhibition based on a design by and in intensive collaboration with Kossmanndejong exhibition architects.
The exhibition covers the history of gardening worldwide and that of the United Kingdom in particular. In the center of the room is a layout with 9 period rooms. From a Roman, Victorian to a modernist room. Surrounding this setup are several interactive exhibition elements, each encompassing a theme from nature; smell, color, atmosphere, etc. Visitors are guided through the museum using a personal tablet. In addition to information about the rooms, images and objects, there is extensive interaction between the visitor and the subject.
Kloosterboer was responsible for the construction of the project; of development, sampling, construction drawings, construction, flora, fauna and prints. Also lighting, image, sound, virtual reality, mechanics, control and programming of the entire presentation.
